I Accidentally Crowned Vesna's Normal Attack: A Genshin 7.1 Talent Guide

Genshin Impact talent upgrade guide: master Version 7.1 talent materials, priority, and weekly farming to avoid wasted Resin.

Last Monday, I sat in my teapot, stared at Vesna’s talent screen, and felt my soul leave my body. I had just dumped 700,000 Mora and a Crown of Insight into her Normal Attack. Not her Burst. Not the Stellar Swirl nuke that makes Stygian Onslaught comps sing. Her Normal Attack. If you’ve done the same while farming Lost Mooncourt runs and Ronova weekly boss clears, welcome to the club. We meet on Mondays, right after the weekly reset, and we cry into our Resin.

The 7.1 Material Maze: What I Wish I Knew

In Version 7.1, talent upgrades still need four core material types, but Snezhnaya has layered on new sources. You need Talent Books from rotating Domains of Mastery, including the new Lost Mooncourt domain in Nod-Krai for Vesna and Vodyanitsa. You need Common Enemy Drops, including Chimeric drops from Snezhnayan overworld foes. You need Weekly Boss Drops from Trounce Domains like Ronova, Silk-Binder, and The Knave for level 7+ upgrades. And for level 10, you need Crowns of Insight, the rarest and most painful item in the whole equation.

Talent levels are locked behind character ascension phases, so if you rush talents before ascending your unit, you’re just spinning your wheels. Also, use Dream Solvent at any Crafting Bench to convert unwanted weekly boss drops into other drops from the same boss pool. That one trick has saved me so many redundant Ronova runs that I almost forgive myself for the Crown incident. Almost.

Talent Priority: Don't Be Like Me

Here’s the priority matrix I now keep taped to my monitor:

Character RolePriority OrderExample
Main DPSBurst > Skill > Normal AttackVesna (max Burst first for Stellar Swirl nuke damage)
Skill-Based SupportSkill > Burst >> Normal AttackVodyanitsa
Burst-Based SupportBurst > Skill >> Normal AttackBennett
Normal Attack CarryNormal Attack > Skill > BurstArlecchino

For all non-core units, stick to the community-proven 8-8-8 rule. Most characters hit their best performance-to-cost ratio at level 8 across all three talents. The Mora spike from 9 to 10 is steep enough to make your wallet scream, and it rarely justifies the marginal gain unless you plan to Crown the talent. The only exception is reaction-triggering units for Hyperbloom or Stygian Onslaught comps. Those scale mainly off Elemental Mastery and character level, so high talent levels are a low priority.

My Weekly Farming Loop: No More Wasted Resin

After my Crown disaster, I built a four-step weekly routine that keeps me from burning Resin like it’s going out of style.

  1. Run my top three required Trounce Domains immediately after Monday’s weekly reset. The first three weekly clears cost only 30 Resin each, half the standard 60 Resin price. That saves 90 Resin per week. It’s free real estate, as the kids say.

  2. Align daily Lost Mooncourt runs to the Mon/Thu, Tue/Fri, Wed/Sat talent book rotation. Batch all cross-character book farming on Sundays, when every mastery domain is accessible.

  3. Use the Adventurer’s Handbook Enemies tab to pin Chimeric enemy locations in Snezhnaya. No more running around like a headless chicken for common drops.

  4. Use Vesna’s talent book crafting passive when converting lower-tier books to higher rarities. That chance at material refunds stretches every domain run further.

Crowning: The 700k Mora Gut Punch

The Genshin community consistently rates Crowning as the game’s highest-stakes permanent resource spend, and for good reason. Upgrading a talent from level 9 to 10 costs 700,000 Mora plus one Crown of Insight. Crowns only come from limited-time events and Sacred Tree rewards, so every Crown you spend is a commitment.

Only Crown talents that meaningfully shift your team’s damage output. Vesna’s Burst is a great example, because it boosts her Stellar Swirl nuke in Stygian Onslaught comps. Bennett’s Burst is another, since it gives universal ATK buff gains. Never Crown Normal Attacks on support units. The gain is negligible for the cost. The Version 7.1 sixth anniversary event grants extra Crowns, making this update an unusually good window to lock in Crowns for your most used units. Just don’t do what I did.

Smart Resource Management: My Four Pillars

I now stick to four core efficiency pillars to avoid progress bottlenecks:

  • Follow the 8-8-8 rule for non-core units.

  • Prioritize Monday half-price Trounce runs.

  • Use Dream Solvent to pivot unwanted Ronova drops.

  • Skip high talent levels for EM-scaling reaction supports.

Mora and weekly boss drop shortages are the most common progression blocks in Version 7.1. When in-game resources don’t keep up with my investment plans, I know some players turn to third-party shops like Lootbar to fill gaps. I’m not here to judge; I’m here to warn you about Crowns. Bookmark the Version 7.1 domain rotation schedule and prioritize your weekly Ronova clears this week to stay ahead of the Snezhnayan character investment curve.

So yeah, I crowned the wrong talent. But I learned the hard way so you don’t have to. May your Resin be efficient, your Dream Solvent be clutch, and your Crowns land on the Burst, not the Normal Attack. ?

If you are juggling multiple team builds in this patch cycle, staying prepared often goes beyond daily Ley Line and domain routes. Stocking up on resources ahead of time—whether to secure upcoming banners or grab extra materials via the Battle Pass to soften those steep talent upgrade costs—makes tackling late-game content far less stressful on your in-game reserves.

For travelers who prefer an extra edge when managing their accounts, trusted top-up platforms like LootBar provide safe, discounted avenues to acquire Genesis Crystals and Welkin Moon passes for Genshin Impact. Having that extra cushion ensures you spend less time sweating over resource deficits and more time testing your newly optimized builds against the toughest challenges Snezhnaya has to offer.
